To the normal denim wearer’s eye, a pair of jeans is a pair of jeans. This is not the case when it comes to a pair of any BENZAK jeans. Our jeans look as good on the inside as they do on the outside. A pair of clean-cut high-quality jeans must have the 360-degree treatment, there is no cutting corners. Think of it like cycling in Amsterdam; if you think it’s a smart move to cut the corner, you’ll probably crash into another cyclist, junky, parked car, or most likely, a tourist.
Our Japanese jeans are sewn with the utmost precision, the waistband is attached with a chain stitch that runs from edge to edge finishing with a ‘V’ stitch. This is a difficult technique to master, and one that is performed only by skilled craftsmen. The ‘V’ stitch is an age-old sign of quality, the end of the stitch marks the position for the top fly button.
On the outside, you’ll find that all belt loops are tucked into the waistband. This gives the jeans a clean aesthetic, as well as doubling up as a reinforcement feature. Thanks to Jacob Davis’ eye for functionality and detail, we’re blessed with the simple riveted trouser. Intrue BENZAK style, a clean construction is one of our top priorities. You’ll find hidden rivets on the back pockets, only visible from the inside.
Denim heads worldwide state that one of the most important features of a pair of jeans is the selvedge ID. Yup, that’s right. The part that’s not really visible, and we couldn’t agree more. As the selvedge ID is of such high importance, denim enthusiasts are known for cuffing their jeans so the selvedge becomes visible. It's as if this is an unspoken way of identifying one denim head to another. After all, it’s about the small details and their nuances that make our brand what it is today. Our ‘Made in Japan’ jeans have been sewn together with a smaller 1.5 cm selvedge outseam. We believe this gives the pant a tidy and sophisticated look.
The inside seams are felled, this is the cleanest possible way to finish this part of the garment. There’s not a loose thread in sight, and that’s the way we like it. To top it off, or should we say bottom off. The 1 cm hem is sewn using a classic Union Special chain stitch machine. It wouldn't be right to have it any other way.
