We have just restocked two of our best-selling work shirts: the BWS-01 WORK SHIRT 6.5 oz. vintage blue denim, and the BWS-02 UTILITY SHIRT 8 oz. Kojima chambray. While taking their inspirations from aesthetics found in vintage workwear, these shirts have been designed with a more contemporary mindset. Therefore, we took the opportunity to give both these shirts a few small, yet relevant updates for this restock.
Vintage tops like sweats and shirts are often recognized by a boxy fit, pairing well with higher wasted jeans. However, for modern day style we have deviated a bit from this look. For this restock we took a second look at the side seams of these shirts, and decided to increase the length by a few centimeters to lower the split. This update is only a small difference that some might even overlook, but it’s these little details that we care so much about and what makes this continuous process of our garments exciting for us as developers. The other update that can be found in both shirts, is our new ‘Japan fabric’ label positioned below the main size label. This new label is a narrow version of the previous one, making it more subtle and better suited for shirts in general. Both fabrics are woven by Collect Mills in Kojima, Japan.
BWS-01 WORK SHIRT 6.5 oz. vintage blue denim
While we have increased the length of the side seam for this update, the shirt is still designed to be worn untucked. The silhouettes shorter body promotes a casual, relaxed look. The 6.5 oz. vintage blue denim fabric is another nod towards vintage classic workwear, and stands out due to its old-school, bright blue colour. The weight makes this fabric suitable for every season.
BWS-02 UTILITY SHIRT 8 oz. Kojima chambray
Besides the aforementioned updates, our utility shirt has one extra update up its sleeve… or better put, in its pocket. The pen compartment is now a separate little pocket, hidden inside the left chest pocket. We previously created the pen compartment by separating the chest pocket in 2 different sections with a topstitch. Now, on the outside this stitch is still visible, but it’s only attached to the little hidden pocket. By using this technique, you still have the pen compartment, but also maintain a full-size chest pocket. As well as with the BWS-01, the silhouette’s shorter body promotes a casual, relaxed look, and is designed to be worn untucked. The 8 oz. Kojima chambray fabric started as the pocketing fabric for our ‘made in Japan’ line, but has become our trusted choice for this utility shirt and other styles as well.
