Previous season we introduced the BC-05 LOOSE CHINO as our most generous fit to date, and we’ve now expanded the offering with two new colours: dark navy and olive drab.

THE SILHOUETTE

BC-05 LOOSE CHINO is a classic chino style with an overall loose fit. Just like our BC-04 RELAXED CHINO, the BC-05 is made following a traditional methodology, as opposed to the modern construction techniques we use for our other chino styles. This involves a lined waistband, felled outseams, and a small coin pocket beside the right-hand front pocket.

The fit is relaxed without feeling oversized. The long rise gives the silhouette room to breathe, while the straight leg keeps the overall look clean and easy to style. It’s designed to sit comfortably on the waist and provide a natural drape through the entire leg.

THE CLOTH

Chino cloth was developed in the 19th century for military uniforms. As the fabric was originally produced in China, trousers made from it were known in Spanish as pantalones chinos (Chinese pants), which was later shortened to ‘chinos’ in English, giving the garment its well-known name. Our iteration of the fabric is woven by Collect Mills in Japan, utilising a left-hand twill construction.

We first introduced the BC-05 in a natural cotton chino cloth, followed by a camel beige variant. For these new colours we’re using the same 8.5 oz Japanese chino cloth from Collect Mills. The yarns used to weave the fabric are fine yet subtly slubby, giving it a soft feel with a gentle texture. The garments have been one-washed for a comfortable fit from day one, without the worry of shrinkage.
