Previous season we introduced the 9 oz. selvedge duck canvas in the colour slate, and now we are adding brown to the lineup. Some people might recognise this new colour, because it used to be part of our collection a few years ago, but now we’re bringing it back in the same two styles as the slate colour option: BP-06 SCOUT PANTS and BWS-04 SCOUT OVERSHIRT.
BROWN DUCK CANVAS
The BP-06 SCOUT PANTS is designed for both comfort and style, featuring a relaxed fit with slightly tapered legs that offer a modern silhouette. We’ve equipped them with slanted side pockets for convenience and a zip fly for ease of wear. Instead of a back yoke, it has darts above the back pockets, giving them a more defined shape in the top block. The back pockets themselves have shovel-shaped, rounded bottoms, as part of the design of our scout styles.
Similarly, the BWS-04 Scout Overshirt offers a clean aesthetic, making it easy to style with a variety of outfits. The chest pockets mirror the rounded, shovel-shaped design of the BP-06 pants' back pockets, tying the pieces together. This overshirt’s versatility is one of its standout features -- it can be worn as a warm shirt in winter or as a light jacket during the summer months, making it a wardrobe staple year-round.
The selvedge fabric we’re using for these garments is woven on a shuttle loom with a wider reach than standard looms. This results in a fabric that is wider than typical selvedge, and in an effort to reduce waste, the selvedge is utilized on only one part of the garments. The unique result of this method is also called ‘half-selvedge’. The material itself is duck canvas, a fabric that predates blue jeans and derives its name from the Dutch word "doek," meaning cloth. Duck canvas is known for its tighter weave, which makes it significantly stronger than regular canvas, providing both durability and style.
